Southside Woman Attacked With Acid + The Shot That Missed


An ongoing dispute between two women boiled over this week in the South Shore neighborhood when one of them allegedly flung acid on the other, shot at her and vandalized her car with a hammer, police said.
Charlis Harris, 26, is charged with aggravated assault, heinous battery and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the incident, which happened in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue on Wednesday at about 12:35 p.m., according to a police statement.
The victim told officers that she was driving when she saw that Harris was following her in a car, police said.
Both the woman and Harris stopped and got out of their vehicles. Harris allegedly approached the woman and flung a "caustic liquid" at the her, burning her face and body. Harris then pulled a handgun and fired at the victim, police said. She missed.
