Both Tim Burton and Angelina Jolie had last spring been rumored to join the project, which Disney has been kicking around for a while as a way to mine its library, among other things. Burton’s involvement remains unclear as he contemplates several projects. But sources say that, as of the last few weeks, Jolie is keen on the film and would like to sign on to play the titular villain.There’s no deal (or, for that matter, script) yet. And it’s unclear if Jolie’s involvement would be conditional on Burton moving forward with it too. But it’s nonetheless notable that Jolie — who has no new movie after shooting the international thriller “The Tourist” — is actively engaging with the material and could, according to sources, very well star in the film when all is said and done.

Cake Girls Giving Cake Refunds
Cakegirls, the upscale cake shop in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood that was destroyed by fire Monday, announced plans today to reimburse clients who placed orders for March 30 to April 3.
Mary Maher, who launched the business with her sister Brenda in 2000, said they will be personally contacting customers who were planning on taking home cakes after this weekend, to discuss each order. The sisters have at least 500 outstanding orders, stretching through the wedding season. They had about 20 orders for this week.
"We are just asking for a little patience because we lost everything in this fire," said Maher, adding that she had been fielding frantic emails from customers worried about their orders. "It has been less than a day... I have no equipment, I don't even have a rolling pin."
Maher estimates that she and her sister lost about $70,000 worth of high-end baking and decorating equipment in the fire that tore through the structure at 2207 W. Belmont Avenue. They had insurance, she said.
Despite an outpouring of offers to help from local bakeries, Maher said that they had not made any decision about either finding temporary space or partnering with other businesses in the short term.

Southside Woman Attacked With Acid + The Shot That Missed
An ongoing dispute between two women boiled over this week in the South Shore neighborhood when one of them allegedly flung acid on the other, shot at her and vandalized her car with a hammer, police said.
Charlis Harris, 26, is charged with aggravated assault, heinous battery and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the incident, which happened in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue on Wednesday at about 12:35 p.m., according to a police statement.
The victim told officers that she was driving when she saw that Harris was following her in a car, police said.
Both the woman and Harris stopped and got out of their vehicles. Harris allegedly approached the woman and flung a "caustic liquid" at the her, burning her face and body. Harris then pulled a handgun and fired at the victim, police said. She missed.

Chicago Reality Show Cake Girls Bakery Burns Down!!!!
With tears streaming down her face, Brenda Maher stood across the street and watched flames destroy the upscale Lake View bakery called Cakegirls she and her sister founded.
"We put a lot of work into this business," Maher said. "Now in a flash it doesn't exist. This is devastating. This is our livelihood. We built this from nothing."
Cakegirls has received national attention. It embarks Wednesday on its second season as one of four bakeries on the WEtv network's "Amazing Wedding Cakes" series.
